Does who you see first to diagnose and treat an episode of back pain matter? Yes!
A study out this weekend compared the costs in compensation for work-related back pain when the patient saw either an MD, a physical therapist (PT) , or a Chiropractor. The result?
Those that saw a Chiropractor first had lower costs. Those who first saw a PT had the highest costs.
This gives more support for having Chiropractors as the gatekeeper for worker's compensation back injuries.
