Hands-on Treatment Repairs and Prevents Muscle and Connective Tissue Damage

Recent research studies have confirmed again what I've seen in practice for over 3 decades. Hands-on treatment, such as friction massage, myofascial and active release, mobilization, and other soft-tissue techniques we use in the office, help prevent and repair overuse conditions.

Overuse conditions, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendonitis, and scar tissue formation are prevented and reduced by these types of hands-on (manual) therapies.

We also use the cutting edge soft-tissue therapy that use special tools, such as FAKTR to help the more stubborn cases.

Herniated Discs Can Heal

A recent study has found that low back herniated discs (LDH) can heal without surgery. This is the first study to investigate changes in the size of LDHs, and disc heights over a significant period of time (8 years). Only 12.5% became worse, most remained unchanged or decreased. The findings encourage those who suffer from a herniated disc not to rush into surgery.

Our office treats patients with herniated discs non-surgically with hands-on manipulation, special traction therapies, and disc-reduction exercises.

The USDA’s New Dietary Guidelines Are Out

The USDA updates its dietary recommendations every five years. The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans reviewed current research and now give a green light to limited amounts of lean red meat and poultry, whole eggs, shellfish, and coffee.

What's downgraded is added sugar, down from 15 percent of daily calories a day to 10 percent -about 10 or 12 teaspoons (about what's in a can of soda)  . Salt is limited to no more than 2,300 milligrams per day – the equivalent of one teaspoon.

What's out completely are refined grains, processed meats, and eating more than 10% of daily calories from saturated fat.

When driving...put...the...phone...down.....

The NJ Star Ledger reports that driver inattention and driver distraction (ie. using cell phones) was the top factor in fatal collisions in 2014, more than speeding and drug or alcohol impairment. Please, when driving put the phone down. It won't kill you, but using it might.
